InCommon Commitment
InCommon is a collective vision and call to action for global collaboration of the Church to pursue wholeheartedly. It calls on Christian ministries, movements, and networks to affirm and adopt shared values and priorities—what we have in common. With so much vying to divide the Church today, this vision unifies. When believers work together, utilizing their unique giftings yet moving in the same direction, by the power of the Holy Spirit, children, youth, and families experience hope only found in Jesus. We are united in our vision but not uniform in our practice. Christian individuals and ministries affirm and adopt values and priorities from the InCommon Commitment.
These values include:
- Prioritization of Children and Youth: We see outreach and engagement of the next generation with Scripture as an essential component to growing the Church.
- Outcome-Based: We pursue fruitful and relevant ministry and plan with the end goal in mind.
- Spiritual Vibrancy: Spiritual Vibrancy: We help children and young people encounter God’s Word and develop in their faith walk through Scripture engagement and community within families and the church.
Additionally, the priorities act as a guiding direction for the Church to move forward together in a way that benefits the next generation and families. The five priorities are integrated—progress in one will affect outcomes in others, creating a focus for this collective and global vision.
- Growing Engagement: Develop leaders who are growing in character, commitment, and ministry ability to reach the next generation effectively.
- Quality Leaders: Progress in accomplishing outreach toward children and youth.
- Relevant Models: Adopt relevant models to effectively reach children and youth in the national or local context being served.
- Quality Resources:
- Access and use relevant quality resources which will help children and youth engage with God’s Word and prepare them to be Christ followers in all dimensions of life.
- Vision for Empowerment: Empower the next generation to engage in significant ways in the ministry of the Church and disciple others.
